Public safety

I am the only candidate with a plan for public safety.

In order to truly address the root causes of public safety and put strategies in place that will deter violent criminals from inflicting further harm on our communities, we must ensure that decisions around policy and resource allocation are rooted in data.

THE 30TH WARD

The 30th Ward includes the 16th, 17th and 25th police districts. They fall under Chicago Police Department’s Area 5.

Below you will find statistics that paint a clear picture of the public safety trends in the City of Chicago and more specifically the neighborhoods which comprise the 30th Ward.

MY PLAN TO ADDRESS PUBLIC SAFETY

I will address public safety proactively and put in place data-driven strategies that will make our communities safer.

AS OUR ALDERMAN, I WILL...

  • Dedicate a senior level member of my staff to address public safety issues in the ward and establish a working collaboration between neighborhood residents, businesses and law enforcement.

  • Bring together the Chicago Police Department, Illinois State Police, Metra Police, the Chicago Transit Authority and the communities they serve to draft an annual Public Safety Report.

  • Reintroduce the Court Advocacy program to provide support for victims and witnesses who may be hesitant to testify in court.

  • Ensure that our local police districts are appropriately staffed and that our social services agencies have the resources necessary to assist those in need.
